City & Guilds NVQ 5357 Level 3 Electrotech Apprenticeship Qualification

The NVQ 5357 is the apprenticeship route to the Level 3 Electrical qualification. To be eligible for this NVQ you must be employed as an apprentice with an electrical business in a formal apprenticeship role.

The 5357 is available in both Installation and Maintenance occupational routes. You will gain the skills and knowledge to carry out your job roles and responsibilities associated with the installation and maintenance of Electrotechnical systems.

Within the course, you will have to complete 9 knowledge modules and 7 performance elements.

Throughout your learning you will cover a number of specialist subject areas, including the following:

Health and Safety legislation; Environmental legislation; Practices and procedures; Scientific Principles; Inspection and testing; Fault finding and diagnosis; Design and Installation.

On successful completion of this NVQ – including the AM2 Practical Assessment – you will have achieved the industry desired level of knowledge and competence required to carry out your role alone and unsupervised.

You will also be eligible to apply for your JIB ECS Gold Card and JIB Grading which will boost your earnings potential by opening up many more opportunities to work on commercial sites or subcontracting for larger employers. Not to mention the potential to increase your hourly rates.
